Tinker Swiss Cottage
This weekend we went to Tinker Swiss Cottage for an investigation. Our team was joined by Bill of FCPS and Kathy & Mike of CPI. The nights events were, to say the least, very exciting.
First a little history of the Tinker Swiss Cottage. Robert Hall Tinker, a Rockford Illinois businessman, built this home in 1865. It is perched high on a limestone bluff overlooking Kent Creek. An tour, in 1862, of Europe is where he fell in love with the architecture of Switzerland and this became his inspiration. Today the Cottage is one of only a handful of Swiss-style homes remaining in the United States from the 1800s.
Mr. Tinker surrounded his Swiss Cottage with trees, vines, winding pathways and flower beds. A three-story Barn housed cows, chickens and in later years the family car. On the backside of the Cottage, a suspension bridge crossed Kent Creek and linked the Cottage with Mrs. Tinker's property on the far bank. In 1906, after the railroad bought her estate, Robert Tinker planted elaborate gardens at the end of the bridge.
The Tinker family, the sole occupants of the Swiss Cottage, left their home to the Rockford Park District and their household belongings to trustees after seventy-five years of residence. Filled with original furnishings, artwork, diaries and household items, the Cottage is a rich time capsule of life a century ago.
In 1943 Tinker Swiss Cottage opened to the public as a Museum. Tours, exhibits, programs and exhibits are offered year round for visitors of all ages.
Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum is supported in part by the Rockford Park District.
Just the history of the Tinker Swiss Cottage alone is worth the visit. We set up our equipment and began our investigation. We began our investigation at 8pm on Saturday night and were still going strong at 6am when we finally wrapped up the investigation. When we left that morning, everyone agreed that we needed to come back again. A follow-up investigation is in the works as soon as the date can be confirmed.
We would like to thank the Swiss Tinker staff for letting us in, Steve for giving everyone the tour and sticking around for this extended investigation, Bill from FCPS for joining us (hope the pennies stopped after you went home!!!), a Kathy & Mike from CPI for joining us and letting us use their equipment.
It was a fun and informative time had by all.

Galena’s 1st Paranormal Meet & Greet
The event did not go over 100% as planned but what truly ever does. We all had a great time and having two great names in the paranormal field with us made it a great time. After the event, a short investigation was performed at the DeSoto House where we were able to see some of the equipment that they use when on investigations. All we can say is thank you to all those that attended and we hope that everyone had fun.

Haunted America Conference 2010
This years Haunted America Conference has been split into two conferences. The Haunted America Midwest Conference will be held in Decatur, Illinois on June 25 & 26, 2010. The Haunted America East Coast Conference will be held in West Barnstable, Massachusetts on August 28, 2010.
If anyone is interested in attending, contact us and as soon as we get more details, we will forward them to you. This year most of PRI will be attending the Haunted America Midwest Conference, unfortunately we will not be able to attend the East Coast Conference. Last years events were great and we had a lot of fun and learned many new things. This year we will be attending as a team.
Many other groups we have talked with will also be attending again as well. We look forward to visiting with our friends again and making new ones this year.

Tonight is the night. We are getting everything set up for the haunting evening. Before the event we are also in the Galena Halloween Parade. The response to this event is outstanding. Tickets for the event are SOLD OUT and we still have people trying to purchase tickets. Looks like this will become a yearly event for us and the DeSoto House Hotel.

Are The Witch Hunts Returning? It is as far as Lan Lamphere is concerned!
In a recent radio show, Lan Lamphere decided to be his normal rude uneducated self. He began making accusations concerning our upcoming Paranormal Meet & Greet on November 21st. He did not just stop at bad mouthing one of our guests, he continued by also badmouthing the Ghost Divas themselves, Tammy Wilson and Tonya Hacker. This was just uncalled for. The worst was when he contacted Boone's Restaurant, which is where we are holding the event, and in his typical belligerent way, threatened them if they did not do something about it.
At the time of this blog being posted, we have been contacted with 23 emails and 42 phone calls all rallying to our side. One person which contacted us went as far to also contact the proper channels in order to verify the "evidence" which was being forced at us as actual proof. Turns out that Lan Lamphere never fully did his homework. This person who wished to remain anonymous, who is also a very renowned paranormal investigator, stated that what was being accused was in fact a "huge mistake blown out of proportion".
If anyone has ever listened to Lan Lamphere's broadcast, and still has enough brain cells to communicate, they know that he loves to bash those that do not believe in his beliefs.
PRI has nothing else to say about this man but does hope that he decides to take his pitchfork and return home. The witch hunts are over.

DeSoto House Haunted Historical Dinner Tour

This will be the first ever of this event and we hope it to be so successful that we are able to do it every year. The seating is limited to 100 and unfortunately, tickets are full price since we are assisting in the event and not sponsoring it.
The evening will begin with a dinner in The Generals Restaurant and will end with desert in the ballroom with us giving a presentation on the paranormal. Only a few of us will be involved in the event but we welcome everyone to join in the festivities.
The day will begin with the parade at 5:30 pm and then move to the DeSoto at 8 pm. Afterward, those that wish, may attend numerous Halloween parties throughout downtown Galena.
Tickets are on sale at the DeSoto House for $25. We hope to see everyone there!
